![[tkeepersfbheader.jpg]] # Facebook Mod Guide > [!success] Welcome to the Modmin Team! > This modguide is a first iteration adapted from [Tarantula Addicts (TA)](https://discord.gg/ta) and [r/tarantulas](https://reddit.com/r/tarantulas) for [Tarantula-Keepers.com Facebook Group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/912871116329361/) > If you see an error or room for improvement, please feel free to talk to us in the [Admins & Moderators Group Chat](https://www.facebook.com/groups/912871116329361/ ) > > Happy Modding! # Role/Responsibilities Primarily, the mod team has two major responsibilities: Content Management and Community Tone. The team should approve/remove posts and comments, respond to any reports, ensure the broader community is following the rules, and (possibly most importantly) set the community tone. ## 1. Content Management - **Approve** users who have answered the join questions. - **Approve** posts that fit our guidelines. - **Remove** content that does not fit the guidelines: - Issue warning for posts that appear to be first offenses. - Issue a 14-day mute for repeat offenses/blatant rule disregard. - Issue bans for posts that are clearly just spammers. - Unsure? Mute them temporarily and post in the *modmin* chat for a second set of eyes. - **Don’t discuss** bans/mutes/etc. publicly—handle those things in private. ## 2. Community Tone - **Set the tone** and behavior as moderators to establish appropriate norms for other users. - **Participate** in chats/threads that are interesting to you. Positive moderator presence is encouraged. # Behavior/Expectations 1. We expect moderators to **follow the rules**. We’re not above them, and when we act like we are, it makes rules harder to enforce. 2. If you’re feeling too heated to handle a situation, **tag another mod** in. Moderation isn’t always easy—take breaks and lean on the team. 3. It’s easy to get caught up in feelings—People won’t always **like** when we have to enforce rules, but **laugh reacts** aren’t the end of the world. Building rapport with the community means that we get to a place where people *can* joke with us. 4. The community **shouldn’t fear mods**; we’re here to keep the group safe and growing in a positive way.
